Feminism proclaims that women matter. Although gender definitions are human creations, we live in societies where the lives of women and men differ. Women’s particular experiences and voices must be included in determining our shared norms and knowledge. Women’s needs must be addressed, not simply assumed to have been addressed when the needs of men, of children or of the nation are met. allegedly feminine qualities such as connection, empathy and concern for others must be honored as truly human and enacted in our societies. Because all women matter issues of racism, classism, sexual choice and any other factors leading to discrimination must be addressed. No group of women have the right to harm other women.

Feminism means women working together to address problems that women face. Women must work with men, but not allow men’s needs and desires to define their own.
